A well designed GIS database can provide direct support for tracking operational and maintenance related activities. The GIS database template (included with GeoIrrigation or available as a standalone product) incorporates more than 30 discrete conveyance system features and hundreds of associated attributes that, when populated, describe and characterize assets.

The template can be used to support initial system inventories and to enhance existing inventories. When populated with location and descriptive information, the underlying GIS database can be used to assist with operations and maintenance planning, budgeting, and modeling.

The GeoIrrigation database employs a standards-based approach so that information is gathered, organized, and stored in a standardized fashion.
